Albemarle Road

Built over 100 years ago as a majestic single family home this freestanding house was neglected for decades, cut up into a doctors office and residential space and added onto with poorly constructed additions. The challenge to restore the home back to its original condition involved working closely with the city's regulatory agencies at the Building Department and Landmarks Preservation Commission to secure extensive approvals. The historic detail of the house was restored at both the exterior and interior. At the exterior, new openings and a series of porches were added to blend harmoniously with the historic details and at the interior historic trim and paneling was recreated while walls and ceilings were relocated for a more open, modern living space. The project completely updated all building systems as well as adding central air conditioning.
