20 Old Fulton
Located within the bounds of the Fulton Ferry Historic District, the design for this new building incorporates the brick arch present throughout the district to evoke strength, movement and openness. Standing on its own block, the building aims to be harmonious to the context with its materiality and scale while establishing a sense of movement and openness to the street. The building bulk is defined by a restrictive declaration on the site that limits its height to a sloping plane. Its brick exterior walls and concrete base wrap the building with 3 complete arches in the front facade and 2 folded arches at the corners establishing a sense of rhythm and movement while restoring continuity to the street wall and animating the streetscape.
